Caribou-Targhee considers new cabin rental proposal

A cabin located on the McCoy Creek and Elk-Jensen Roads on the Caribou-Targhee National Forest may soon be available for public rental.

The forest is seeking public comments on a proposal to begin using the Jensen Cabin as a rental cabin for the public at a rate of $95 a night. The cabin is located about 13 miles west of Alpine, Wyoming and about 3 miles from the McCoy Creek Campground.

The cabin sleeps up to 9 people and is nearby Palisades Reservoir and numerous motorized and non-motorized trail opportunities.

Public comments may be directed to Kaye Orme, Caribou-Targhee National Forest Recreation Program Manager, 1405 Hollipark Drive, Idaho Falls Idaho 83401.

Comments will be taken until December 15, 2017.

A citizen’s advisory committee will consider new fee proposals.
