Jackson looks to avoid another Heckuva Hill

With the 2016-17 winter still in mind, the Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Department is preparing for the challenge of another winter.

The department says the conditions of sidewalks will be a high priority. The department is asking local business and homeowners to remove obstructions that could prevent plowing.

Sidewalks next to a curb line or street should have a 6-foot wide clear zone with a minimum of 5 feet of clearance around all immovable obstructions. Parks and Recreation is asking that all moveable objects be removed from that zone by Wednesday, November 15, 2017.

Property owners should also check if trees or shrubs on private property are encroaching onto sidewalks and trim them back to make sure those areas are safe and accessible.

People with questions related to snow removal should call the Parks and Recreation Department at 307-732-5793.
