IFPD officers promoted to Captain

The Idaho Falls Police Department has promoted two officers.

Lieutenant Steve Hunt and Lieutenant Bill Squires were recently promoted to the rank of Captain.

Captain Squires started working for the Idaho Falls Police Department in 1995 after working security for the Idaho National Laboratory.
He has served as a patrol officer and patrol supervisor for most of his career. He has also worked full-time as a detective and supervisor in narcotics enforcement. Squires has been a SWAT Team Leader and recently began service as incident command for the Idaho State Region 3 Incident Management Team.

Captain Hunt served for five years in the U.S. Marines, including deployment in the Gulf War.

He graduated from the ISU School of Applied Technology for Law Enforcement and holds a Management Certification from the Idaho Peace Officers’ Standards and Training Academy. He has been with the IFPD since 1993 with a number of supervisory and management positions. Hunt has specialized training as part of the Crisis Intervention Team and is an advisory board member for the Region 7 Crisis Intervention Team. He is also on the board of the Behavioral Health Crisis Center of East Idaho.
