Southeast Idaho MATHCOUNTS chapter received grant for local competition

The Southeast Idaho MATHCOUNTS chapter received a $5,000 grant from Monsanto to fund the Southeast Idaho MATHCOUNTS Competition to be held in February 2018.

Middle school mathletes from across southeast Idaho who train individually and in teams will gather to test their knowledge.

Prizes are awarded at each level of the competition.

The top teams and individuals in the southeast Idaho competition will advance to the State Competition at Boise State University in March 2018, and the top ten individuals will receive scholarships from Idaho State University College of Science and Engineering.

“We are so thankful for Monsanto’s support,” said the Southeast Idaho MATHCOUNTS Chapter Coordinator Krystal Chanda. “Their generosity will allow us to promote the MATHCOUNTS program in southeast Idaho cities who have not been able to participate previously. Being able to recognize more students for their math excellence is what the program is all about, and Monsanto has made this possible.”

Registration for the competition series is open until December 15, 2017.

The competition is Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Idaho State University.
