Blackfoot voters to pick mayor, council and pool bond

In Blackfoot, voters will determine 4-year terms for Mayor and two city council seats, seats #1 and #2.

Incumbent Mayor Paul Loomis will seek re-election. He is challenged by Marc R. Carroll, Jim Thomas, and Chase VanOrden.

Incumbent Christopher Jensen has filed for re-election to Council Seat #1. He will be challenged by Sean Williams.

Incumbent Lane “Skip” Gardner has filed for re-election to Council Seat #2. He is unopposed.

Blackfoot voters will also be asked to decide a $5 million general obligation bond issue. The bond would be used to complete renovations to extend the usable life and upgrade some facilities at the Blackfoot swimming pool.

The issue will require a two-thirds majority for approval.

People have until October 10 to file the necessary paperwork to be considered a valid write-in candidate during the November 7 election.
