Man escapes trailer fire uninjured

The Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to a structure fire on the 300 block of N. Higbee in Idaho Falls around 4:54 a.m. Thursday.

Officials report when crews arrived, they found a single-wide trailer with heavy smoke coming from the trailer.

Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire, extinguishing the area around a water heater externally and then made entry into the trailer to extinguish the fire in the bathroom area.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to the remaining areas of the home.

Crews then began salvage and overhaul on the fire and secured utilities.The male occupant was able to exit the structure without injury, and officials report there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

Ladder 1, engine 2, engine 4, ambulance 1, ambulance 6 and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
