Westside Elementary School lockdown lifted

Westside Elementary school at 2680 Newman Drive was ordered into a precautionary lockdown sometime after noon Thursday. Several other west side schools were also placed under a precautionary “shelter in place” order.

Those included Ethel Boyce, Fox Hollow, Eagle Rock Middle School and Skyline High School.

Idaho Falls Police recommended the action after a hit and run accident occurred in the general area. Police were searching for a suspect involved in the crash.

The lockdown was lifted shortly after 1 p.m. without incident.
