Pocatello Co-op and Farmers Table Cafe sees good online response

The Pocatelo Co-op and Farm Table Cafe brings something different to the table for Pocatello. With local all-natural and organic food, it encourages a healthy lifestyle through both the market and the cafe.

Karen Martin, general manager, said as far as local clientele, it had seen a drop in local customers in the last year but it has started to pick back up again. Martin said they still need more local support though.

Martin said one thing that has been great for business is out-of-town customers. Martin said they get a lot of travelers coming through, especially in the summer. They get people from all across the U.S., including touring rock bands. They also have seen customers from Italy, Belgium, France. Martin said they Google search when they visit for local healthy or organic places and Pocatello Co-Op is the first result.

Martin said every bit of business matters for a small business, so they hope more people will utilize the Co-Op and shop there any time they can.

“We certainly cannot compete with the bigger stores,” she said. “You know, so many places have organic now and what we’ve told for people for years here, people like one stop shopping of course. But we say please come here first and get what you can and then go elsewhere if you need to. And we understand that is a necessity for most people.”

Martin said the co-op has been in business for ten years and it hopes to be able to continue sticking around and hopefully, growing.
