Public hearing to be held on signcode changes

You can voice your thoughts and concerns about the proposed changes to portions of the Pocatello City Code that address off-premise signs at a public hearing during the Pocatello City Council’s regular meeting next week.

Under the suggested changes, the city would adopt a “cap and trade” policy for off-premises signs, also known as billboards.

With this proposal, a new billboard would be allowed only as a replacement–in trade–for removal of an existing billboard, capping the number of these signs at current levels. Any replacements would be subject to all other code standards governing billboards.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. Thursday, November 16.

If you are unable to attend, you can send in written comments to the City of Pocatello Planning and Development Services Department, P.O. Box 4169, Pocatello, ID 83205-4169.

You can also watch it online at HERE or on Government Access Channel 56.

You can view all the suggested changes HERE.
