Scouting for Food a success in Pocatello area

The Tendoy District of the Grand Teton Council of Boys Scouts of America says people in the Pocatello and Chubbuck area were generous in their donations to the “Scouting for Food” drive October 28.

Scouting Professional Dan Deakin said scouts went door-to-door collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items.

“There were over 46,000 food items collected in our community,” said Dan Deakin, Tendoy District Scouting Professional.” This was an increase in food items collected over the previous year. It’s great to see the generosity of our community.”

The food was donated to the local food bank.

Deakin said over 1,200 scouts and over 450 adult leaders participated in the drive. Their work totaled more than 3,360 man-hours to the local food bank.
