College and pool issues fail in Bingham County

Correction: Snake River levy fails

Based on unofficial returns, a Snake River School District plant facility levy failed to achieve the necessary 55 percent majority for approval. The vote was 521 in favor and 433 against. That is a margin of 54.61 percent, short of the 55 percent majority needed.

BLACKFOOT, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK)

Bingham County voters have rejected a proposal to join the College of Eastern Idaho taxing district in Idaho Falls. Supporters said the move would have lowered the cost of a community college education to Bingham County students. 61 percent of voters rejected the proposal. It needed a simple majority to pass.

An effort to pay for upgrades to the Blackfoot swimming pool also fell short. That $5 million bond needed a two thirds majority to pass. It received 61 percent of the vote.

Also in Bingham County, by a 55 percent margin voters approved plant facility levy in the Snake River School District. That will help maintain facilities in the district for the next ten years.
