Youth performers prepare for “Little Mermaid” opening

Many people don’t realize there’s a stage version of Disney’s “Little Mermaid.”

The Idaho Falls Youth Arts Centre will present the show with a cast of nearly 100

“IFYAC’S mission is to enrich the lives of our youth through self-expression in the

performing arts, and it creates a positive self-image over time,” IFAC’s president Megan Hopfer said.

This production is a dream come true for teenager Summer Gardner who plays Ariel.

“This is my first main lead role and it’s such a great role for me because I’m just like Ariel so I can just go out on stage and be myself,” Gardner said.

Dalton Kohler who plays Prince Eric says even if you’ve seen the Disney Movie, it’s worth it to see the show.

“They’ll see a love story between Eric and Ariel, and they’ll see a whole new side of Little Mermaid than the movie shows. It’s different, but it’s a good different,” Kohler said.

The show runs November 10, 11, 13, 14, 15 at 7:30 pm at the Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium with a 2:30 pm Saturday matinee. Tickets are available at IFYAC.org.
