Students safe after Blackfoot school experiences “shelter in place”

The Blackfoot Police Department received third party information of a suicidal subject at a residence near the Blackfoot Heritage Sixth Grade School around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday.

The school was placed in a “shelter in place” status for approximately 5 minutes to ensure student safety.

Officers were able to determine the subject was not in the area, and the person was found by another law enforcement agency who reports they made contact with the individual and determined she was safe.

Officials report the students and school were never in any danger during this incident.
