Idaho Falls Mayor’s race voting underway

Early voting is now underway for the Idaho Falls runoff election for Mayor. Ballots may be cast at regular polling places from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the day of the election, December 5.

Incumbent Mayor Rebecca Casper received 47 percent of the vote in a five-person race on election night. But, she needed better than 50 percent to claim victory.

Casper will face Barbara Ehardt, the second-place finisher in the December 5 election. Ehardt won 27 percent in the first vote.

Early voting is allowed during business hours at the Bonneville County Election Office at 825 Shoup Ave. through Friday, December 1. Mail-in absentee ballots are also available.

Early voting will begin in the Blackfoot Mayoral runoff election on Monday, November 20 at the Bingham County Courthouse.

Incumbent Mayor Paul Loomis won 40 percent of the total vote on November 7. He will face a runoff with Marc Carroll on the December 5 ballot. Carroll collected 25 percent of the total vote in the original four-person race.
