Burley man killed by train

The Minidoka Sheriff’s Office reports a Burley man died in an accident involving a train and 10 wheeler truck at the intersection of 800 East North Hwy 24, Rupert around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

53-year-old Manuel Jacuinde Ortega was attempting to cross the railroad tracks when he was struck by a westbound Union Pacific Train, according to officials.

Officials report Ortega died at the scene.

The sheriff’s office reminds you that anytime is train time. Be sure to stop, look and listen for a train before you cross the tracks.
