BLM Christmas Tree permits available

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will be issuing Christmas tree permits now through Dec. 24.

The permits, which are specifically for Christmas trees on public lands managed by the BLM in southeastern Idaho, are $15 each with a limit of one per family.

Christmas tree cutting is closed in Petticoat Peak and Worm Creek Wilderness Study Areas, Wolverine Canyon, Sand Mountain, Black Canyon, Appendicitis Hill, Snake River Islands, Henrys Lake, White Knob Mountain, Hawley Mountain, China Cup, Cedar Butte, Hell’s Half Acre and Burnt Creek.

You can purchase the BLM Christmas tree permits at the following locations:

Upper Snake Field Office, located at 1405 Hollipark Drive, Idaho Falls, ID Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pocatello Field Office, located at 4350 S. Cliffs Drive, Pocatello, ID Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Westside Ranger District (208-766-5900), 193 South 300 East, Malad, ID Nov. 16: 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Nov. 17: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Nov. 18: 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Nov. 24: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Nov. 25: 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Nov. 30: 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Dec. 1: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Dec. 2: 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Dec. 7: 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Dec. 8: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Dec. 9: 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.

You must have a valid permit to cut and/or remove trees from public lands.

Tag prices and restrictions are different for trees cut on Forest Service lands.
