Idaho gas prices rise, delaying seasonal trends

Idaho gas prices rose .3 cents per gallon in the past week. According to Gas Buddy’s daily survey of 802 Idaho gas stations, the average price was $2.60 per gallon on Sunday.

At the same time, national average prices fell 3.9 cents per gallon last week to land at an average $2.49 per gallon.

The switch to winter-blend fuels, which are cheaper to produce, usually have some effect on Idaho prices by now. But, Idaho AAA spokesperson Matthew Conde says that even with reduced demand, typical fall gas savings have been slow to come.

“AAA has tracked gas prices very closely over the years. Lately, we’ve seen a pattern of smaller seasonal discounts,” says Matthew Conde, public affairs director for AAA Idaho.

The auto club expects prices to decline 5 to 20 cents per gallon by the end of the year.
