Idaho State Police hosting “Coats 4 Kids”

Idaho State Police troopers are getting into the holiday spirit. They kicked off their new 12 Days of Christmas campaign.

“Something new this year we wanted to try was putting together some donations, collections for some of the needy families — not just here locally in Bonneville County, but in all of our surrounding counties that we serve in,” said Cpl. Mike Nielson.

Saturday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 9 state troopers will be at Broadway Ford in Idaho Falls to collect unwrapped, new toys and new or gently used coats of all sizes. ISP hopes to get as many donations as they can, and to send along this message: “Remind people that there’s a lot of need out there and it’s an ongoing need,” Nielson said.

Along with ISP’s 12 Days of Christmas, it is also teaming up with Broulim’s in Ammon on those same days for a food drive.

“If somebody doesn’t have the coats or they don’t have the new toys to donate, they can certainly drop by and do a cash donation and Broulim’s in turn will put together some bagged groceries that we can also drop off at some of those families,” Nielson said.
