Former IRS agent sentenced for dealing meth

A Boise man has been sentenced to two years in prison for distributing methamphetamine.

David Lon Rose, 43, is a former revenue agent for the Internal Revenue Service.

Rose pleaded guilty to the charge in U.S. District Court in Boise on September 18. Senior U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge also sentenced Rose to four years of supervised release after his prison sentence.

According to court records, Rose distributed 37 grams of pure methamphetamine to a confidential informant on two separate occasions in December of 2016. The investigation began in May of that year and in June Rose resigned from his IRS position.

The case was the result of a joint investigation by the Boise Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF). The OCDETF includes multiple federal agencies including the U.S. Marshal’s Service and Internal Revenue Service.
