Rigby High School debate team doing more than winning

The Rigby High School debate team is having a successful school year so far. The team has been taking first place in most of their competitions.

In their latest competition, they took first place overall. They competed against teams from Idaho and Nevada.

But they say it’s not just about winning, it’s about becoming better people.

“Using debate and using speech as an activity to not only become better debaters but as I always tell them, better human beings and become better people,” says Brock Soundrup, Speech and Debate Coach.

“I’m proud of like how the team has developed because it’s not necessarily for us about winning the trophies, it more about being a better person and representing Rigby in the best light possible,” says Zack Boyd, debate team president.

Their coach has been with the school for three years, and he says if you are a student interested in debating, go for it.
