Idaho Falls man arrested for aggravated DUI that led to two-car crash
A 35-year-old Idaho Falls man was arrested for aggravated DUI after an injury crash occurred at the intersection of 45th E. and 65th S. around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Deputies found Jose Armando Farius-Maldonaldo was driving his Dodge Caravan on 45th E. when he failed to yield in the intersection to a Volkswagon Passat traveling on 65th S. resulting in a collision between the two.
The Volkswagon was driven by a 43-year-old woman who had a 5-year-old passenger.
Officials report the child was not injured; however, ambulance personnel transported the woman to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center with significant injuries.
Deputies found evidence of alcohol use in Farius-Maldonaldo’s vehicle and indications that he was impaired.
Farius-Maldonaldo was transported to EIRMC for medical clearance due to a fractured rib and foot, and then was taken to the Bonneville County Jail.
While at the jail, Farius-Maldonaldo was given a breath test which indicated a .15 and .16 BAC, which is almost twice the legal limit.
Farius-Maldonaldo was then booked into jail for Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, a felony, along with misdemeanor charges of Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol and Failure to Purchase a Driver’s License.
