Local woman thanks those who saved her

One local woman is thankful for the people who saved her life when she and her husband plunged into the Snake River.

Back in October, Arlene Hix’s husband, Veldon Max Hix, was driving when he had a heart attack. He lost control of the car, and they ended up in the river in Jackson, WY.

Arlene survived but her husband was pronounced dead. She wants to thank the fishermen and deputy that came to her aid.

“The stars lined up that day and they were able to give me a rope and I tied it around my waist and they put the surfboard. I have a sun roof car and it opened, and I was able to climb up,” says Arlene Hix.

Deputy Lloyd Funk received his first medal of honor for his heroic action of pulling Arlene Hix out of her car.
