Belnap Christmas Light Show still going strong

One local family’s light show is a tradition for some families. The Belnap Christmas Light Show has been going strong for over a decade.

They don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

“It’s become family traditions and because of that, we have to keep those traditions going, we can’t stop,” says LoAnn Belnap.

Family traditions and the joy of the children keep them going.

“That drives us the most, I think is kids. Any given night we can hear children laughing, singing and it’s just great that it’s about them not us. And we’d like to be more in the background. The show speaks for itself,” says Evan Belnap.

The show is about 20 minutes long. Guests can listen to Christmas songs on a transmitter and watch the show which has five houses involved.

One of their neighbors, Justin Robb says he is proud to be a part of it.

“The look on little kids’ face when they’re sitting across the street and you can see them and hear them. People have come up and personally thanked me, with cookies or just a thank you and that means the world to me,” says Robb.

If you want to see for yourself, it’s at 3453 N 55th E in Iona. The Belnaps want to remind visitors to be respectful of their neighbors, park in designated areas and keep the noise to a minimum. The show starts at 5:30 every night, Sunday through Thursday it’s open until 9:30 and Friday and Saturday it’s open until 10.

They say they will also be open on Christmas Eve until the last car leaves. They’ll be giving out candy canes and there will be a special visit from Olaf from the movie “Frozen.”

The Benlaps would like to thank: their family and neighbors, MD Nursery & Landscape, PRO Rental, and FASTSIGNS who they say make their light show possible.
