Idaho Falls Air Show donates $120,000 in grants to local nonprofits

The Blue Angel Air Show brought in big bucks to Idaho Falls this summer. Now, it’s going to local nonprofit organizations.

The Idaho Falls Air Show gave out 12 $10,000 grants to organizations.

The winners are:

Angel Flight West Camp Magical Moments College of Eastern Idaho Foundation Development Workshop, Inc. EAA Chapter 1049 Eastern Idaho 99’s Exchange Club Idaho Falls YMCA Mayor’s Scholarship Fund Museum of Idaho Museum of Idaho (2) The Idaho Food Bank

The winners were selected based off criteria such as eduction and aviation scholarships, arts and culture, veteran groups and disability organizations. The Museum of Idaho won two of the grants. One will be used to support students and their ability to visit and explore the museum. The second will be to create a new exhibit.

“Our ‘Way Out West’ experience, which will be our new permanent exhibit at the Museum of Idaho,” Executive Director, Karen Baker, said. “And we’re going to be telling the story of Eastern Idaho.”

The College of Eastern Idaho Foundation plans to use the money towards scholarships.

“Receiving this funding is so beneficial because we’re gonna be able to continue changing lives through scholarship,” CEI Foundation Executive Director Natalie Hebard, said. “Mainly we’re going to be focusing those scholarship dollars to help veterans and those with documented disabilities.”

Idaho Falls also received the Blue Angel “Show of the Year” for 2017.
