New hospital building planned on Mountain View campus

Correction:

An independent medical addition is being planned on the same campus as Mountain View Hospital in Idaho Falls.

A news conference to explain the project and its impact on the community will be held in January.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Idaho Falls Planning and Zoning Commission is considering a proposed expansion project at Mountain View Hospital at 2325 Coronado Street.

According to the business blog, bizmojoidaho.com, the project would include a $65 million, 88-bed wing on the building’s east end.

Mountain View is managed by Alabama-based Medical Properties Trust (MPT). According to MPT, the hospital is currently licensed as an acute care hospital with 24 licensed beds. It supports 260 employees and 40 volunteers.

The plans for the addition also indicate a new name for the facility; Idaho Falls Community Hospital.

According to a site plan filed with the city, the total 285,900 square foot project would include a 3-story, 172,000 square foot hospital and a 311-stall, 3-story parking garage.

It includes plans to demolish and replace the existing clinic, but would include the current Mountain View Hospital as part of the complex.

Mountain View Hospital officials had no comment on the proposal at this time.
