Last minute shopping and what to do

There are only a couple of days left before Christmas, so that means if you’re still looking at what to get that special someone you might be a little behind. If you’re someone who plans on shopping tomorrow, you might want to have a game plan. Many experts say that December 23rd is one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Even rivaling Black Friday.

Known to many as “Super Saturday,” tomorrow will definitely be one for the books.

“I anticipate a lot of people coming in and that’s why we opted to stay open and we’re staying open,” Gwendalynn Grey, Owner of Nostalgic Boutique, said. “Even a little bit later Christmas for Saturday, for the last minute shoppers than we would normally.”

Local shop owners say that the holiday season is one of the busiest times for them.

“This is the busiest Christmas,” Grey said. “And I’ve been downtown for the 3 years, that I’ve seen in my location”

But don’t mistake that for them complaining. They love this time of year and the business it brings.

“It energizes my whole staff we get excited about days like this,” Richard Napier, General Manager and Owner of Idaho Mountain Trading, said. “We like the busy time. Its fun.”

Waiting until last minute might sound like a pain, but actually it could benefit you.

“We got sales on most of the things in the store right now,” Napier said. “So ski’s, snowboard, snowshoes, cross country skis, clothing, helmets pretty much on sale right now.”

If you’re someone who put off getting gifts until the last few days before Christmas, here are some tips to help you on your way.

Gift cards, those can might become your best friend, and are found pretty much everywhere. DIY something, nothing says a gift from the heart more than a personalized creation. Give the gift of an experience. According to reports, 39% of Americans plan to purchase something like wine tastings or spa treatments for those loved ones. And your last resort, Cash. It might be less personal, but, hey it’s something!

So if you’re someone that’s still has to shop for Grandma. Make sure you’re prepared for the crowds and crowds of people that had the same mindset as you.

For those people who don’t need to see those you’re getting gifts for until after the big day? It might be best to wait until after Christmas to buy gifts. Many retail stores are having after Christmas day sales that will have huge price discounts.

If you’re someone who likes to ship gifts, today was the last day for UPS Next Day Shipping, USPS Priority Shipping, and FedEx Overnight Delivery. But if you can afford it, those gifts can still be delivered on time if you spend a little extra more money on shipping.
