Local family donates lightboxes for NICUbabies

Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is now lit up thanks to the parents of preemie Kaio Doxey who spent four months in the NICU.

During Kaio’s stay, Kaio Sr. Doxey and Jessica Doxey put up a lightbox in their bay to write different messages, celebrate milestones and eventually count down the days until they could bring him home.
Nurses even got in on the fun by leaving messages for Kaio’s mom and dad.

Kaio and his family have settled in at home now, but the couple decided they wanted to give back to the hospital.

With donations from the community and EIRMC’s Volunteer Auxiliary, the Doxey’s purchased lightboxes and letters for each bay in the NICU.

EIRMC said it is grateful for the donation that parents will be able to enjoy for years to come.
