Teenage male sent to hospital after train vs vehicle accident

Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a train vs vehicle accident at the intersection of 81st N and N. Foothill Road at about 5:09 p.m. Thursday.

Officials said a male teenage driver driving in a four door sedan failed to yield to the train.

The train hit the driver’s side and spun the vehicle around, and the vehicle ended up in a field.

It took a quarter mile for the train to stop.

Officials said the driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

This is the fifth train vs vehicle accident in the state in the last 30 days.
