UPDATE: Pocatello Police conducted a subsequent DUI investigation of the crash.

Cyrus Wolf Buehler,35, was arrested for felony aggravated driving under the influence.

Conviction under the Idaho law can carry a penalty of up to 15 years in jail and a $5,000 fine.

A man on a bicycle suffered severe injuries on New Year’s Eve when he was struck by a pickup truck driven by an individual later arrested for drunk driving.

The collision occurred at around 5:45 p.m. at North Harrison Avenue and West Custer Street.

The impact was so strong that the man’s bicycle was nearly bent in half.

The pickup truck driver was questioned by police at the scene, given a sobriety test and then taken into custody.

The names of the driver and bicyclist were not released.

The bicyclist was taken to Portneuf Medical Center and is expected to survive.
