Idaho Falls woman hurt in intersection crash

Two drivers escaped serious injury at around 6:30 p.m. Monday after crashing into each other at the intersection of E. 49th North and US Highway 26 near Beach’s Corner in Idaho Falls.

Idaho State Police said Amanda Butikofer,29, of Idaho Falls was driving south on E. 49th North in a 2015 Honda Civic. According to reports, Butikofer failed to yield at the intersection with US 26 and was struck by an eastbound 2003 Jeep Liberty driven by Austin Winder, 20, of Idaho Falls.

Butikofer continued through the intersection, drove off the road, struck a highway sign, went through a parking lot, and came to rest against the corner of a building. Winder’s vehicle stopped on the right shoulder of the intersection.

Butikofer was not wearing a seat belt. She was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center by private vehicle.
