Blackfoot’s new mayor ready for business

Blackfoot’s new mayor has officially been in office for two days, and he’s ready to tackle some issues.

Marc Carroll was sworn in as mayor Tuesday night. He beat out former mayor, Paul Loomis, in a runoff election in December. He spent the time in-between the election and his swearing in shadowing Loomis so he was prepared to take on the job. He says his first focus will be on the budget. He’s also looking at the community pool issue. He toured it today and hopes to soon have a recommendation on what to do.

“I told the council that I wanted the next month to be able to go through the systems to look at each system individually,” Carroll said. “And to bounce that against the engineering analysis report that we have from about a year ago. And make a determination where we go from this point.”

Mayor Carroll has also toured the water treatment plant which is going through some major renovations. He says he’s impressed with all of the city crews he’s met so far and is looking forward to working with them.
