Man rescued from Snake River

Idaho Falls police and firefighters were called to 455 River Parkway shortly at 3:58 p.m. Wednesday on reports that a man had fallen through the ice of the Snake River.

Early reports indicated the person was exhausted and was having trouble getting out of the water. The man was able to reach his cell phone and call for help.

Emergency responders initially had some trouble spotting the man because he was up against rocks on the shoreline where they could not see him.

Officials said the man was in the water for approximately 15 minutes from the initial call to dispatch.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

It is not know at this time how he got in the river officials said.
