Pocatello man killed in crash; woman charged with vehicular manslaughter

UPDATE:
Tia Ritter was arrested Thursday and charged with vehicular manslaughter in connection with the two-vehicle crash Wednesday.

Idaho State Police said she was also charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and a prior misdemeanor warrant out of the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A Pocatello man was killed in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 91 and West Reservation Road, north of Chubbuck Wednesday night.

Idaho State Police identified the victim as 37-year-old Charles Haynes.

According to reports, Tia Ritter, 21, of Pocatello was driving a 2007 Suzuki Forenz sedan west on West Reservation Road and failed stop at the stop sign at the intersection with U.S. 91. Ritter’s vehicle collided with a 2004 GMC Sierra pickup, which was being driven north by Robert Boettcher, 61, of Pocatello.

Haynes was a passenger in Ritter’s car. Both were transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. Haynes was pronounced dead at the hospital. Boettcher was transported to PMC by private vehicle.
