Elementary school lockdown lifted after police found wanted individual dead

UPDATE: Chubbuck Police reports the wanted individual found dead in the 3700 block of Cardinal was an adult male who was a suspect in a battery that occurred at the area of the 5200 block of Lucky St. around 8:45 a.m. Friday.

Officers report the man fled the scene before they arrived, but they were able to locate an adult female who had been battered extensively.

The female victim was immediately transported by ambulance to the emergency room where she is currently being treated.

Wilcox Elementary School was placed on “lockdown” at around 9:30 a.m. Friday as Pocatello and Chubbuck Police looked for a wanted individual.

Pocatello Police were called to assist Chubbuck officers in the 3700 block of Cardinal.

While the area was being secured, Chubbuck officers found the individual they were looking for was dead.

The school lockdown was lifted.

Police advised there is no threat to the public. The investigation is continuing.
