Sage Grouse working group to meet in Jackson

The Upper Snake River Basin Sage Grouse Working Group will review latest data in its next meeting at 1 p.m. Monday at the Game and Fish Office in Jackson.

The meeting will include a review of the 2017 lek survey data. The department’s regional grouse population report will be presented along with the status of a wildlife hazard plan being developed for the Jackson Hole Airport.

Conservationists will also review Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke’s plan to revise sage grouse conservation plans that are part of federal land use plans.

The group is one of eight regional working groups in Wyoming. Each is comprised of groups interested in sage grouse conservation. It helps develop and initiate conservation plans to benefit sage grouse and other species that use sagebrush habitat.
