Add the Words rallies in Idaho Falls

A group in Idaho Falls rallied on the Broadway Bridge in support of the LGBT community and adding certain words to the Idaho Human Rights Act.

The group “Add the Words” is asking legislators to include “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to the act.

They also want make discrimination against LGBT people illegal in Idaho in the areas of employment, housing, and public accommodations.

This is their 5th year of rallies.

“Well it’s just not right that people can discriminate against an entire segment of people, for just who they are,” Elizabeth Cogliati, President of Idaho Falls Progressives, said. “And so it’s just really important to me that people are not able to discriminate against anybody.”

Besides holding signs on the bridge, the rally also included a five minute moment of silence.

The group plans to rally every Wednesday around noon until the legislative session is done, or a bill is passed.
