Pomerelle to closed for high winds, plans to open Thursday

UPDATE 4:45 P.M.: Pomerelle Mountain Resort received nearly 10 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours, but due to high winds, it was largely untouched.

The resort said the wind continued Wednesday and forced a closure to night operations.

Forecasts call for the winds to subside overnight.

Pomerelle does plan to be open Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Pomerelle Mountain Resort has closed for the day.

Spokesperson Gretchen Anderson said the resort received two inches of moisture laden snow overnight, plus 7 inches of snow. The problem, however, is high winds. She said branches are snapping and the resort decided to close in the interest of safety.
