Police still looking for standoff suspect
UPDATE 1/15/18: On Saturday, January 13 around 2:00 p.m., officers responded to a call from a person who witnessed a man in the street pointing a handgun at a woman and another man near 13th Street and S Ridge.
Police responded to the incident after being notified that the suspect was potentially armed and barricaded inside the apartment.
The woman told officials the man spoke of suicide.
Several Idaho Falls Police officers and the SWAT team were called to the scene.
The building where the suspect lived was temporarily evacuated and residents nearby were asked to stay in their homes, and police blocked off traffic in front of the apartment complex between approximately 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The suspect has been identified as 53-year-old Greg Huntsman.
Officials describe Huntsman as a white male, approximately 5’11 and 135 lbs.
Huntsman’s roommate opened the apartment for the SWAT team, who then deployed a tactical robot to do a search of the apartment. When no signs of Huntsman were found, police went in and cleared the apartment. There was no sign of the Huntsman in the apartment.
Police have not had any contact with the suspect since the incident.
The incident is under investigation.
UPDATE 1/13/17 8:25 p.m.: Idaho Falls police say they were called to Placer and 13th for a report of a domestic disturbance.
Police say there were three people involved – two men and a woman. One man was pointing a gun at the other man outside.
The armed man then went inside an apartment and threatened suicide.
SWAT used a tactical robot to do a sweep of the apartment to see it it was safe. SWAT was able to clear the apartment and the man was not inside.
Police have no leads right now as to where the man might have gone.
The incident lasted about three hours. Police say there were no injuries and there is no threat to the public.

UPDATE 1/13/17 6:10 p.m.: Idaho Falls police were involved in a standoff at Placer Avenue and 13th Street. The SWAT team cleared the apartment, and the man was not inside.
Officials said there are no leads as to where he is at this time, and police are working to determine next steps.
ORIGINAL STORY: Several IFPD officers and SWAT teams have responded to a man threatening suicide. The man also came out onto the street threatening another man and woman.
Neighbors reported that he had a gun on him in the street, pointing a gun at the man and woman.
The SWAT team is currently trying to make contact with the man.
The road is currently blocked off. People are asked to avoid the area as police deal with the situation.
