ISU professor appears in Netflix documentary on Bigfoot

After more than 20 years researching Bigfoot, an Idaho State University professor is featured in a new Netflix documentary about Sasquatch. It documents a trip Dr. Jeffrey Meldrum took, where he might have caught sight of the creature.

“I’m quite convinced that there’s something out there,” Meldrum said. “That are leaving these enigmatic over sized superficially like human footprints,”

Meldrum, a big name in the world of Bigfoot and who happens to be a professor at Idaho State University, took a trip in 2013 to an area in Alberta, Canada called Nordegg.

With Tom Standing and other researchers, they may have encountered something while there.

“May have even had a visual sighting, a fleeting glimpse, of a shadowy figure. A silhouetted figure,” Meldrum said. “But certainly not conclusive but it was nonetheless intriguing.”

And those sightings documented on the trip were what Meldrum and standing, used to make “Discovering Bigfoot” which is now on Netflix.

“It’s those kinds of experiences that help motivate you to keep going,” Meldrum said. “Even in the face of criticism.”

Meldrum, who is no stranger to the spotlight, has appeared in many TV series, even on Discovering Channel. He is currently in talks with National Geographic to expand on his findings that through the Netflix documentary.

He also thinks that ISU does a good job of tolerating him and his research on Bigfoot.

“Many of my colleagues are very supportive, very interested and very intrigued. But it kind of depends on who you ask. You might pick somebody, who feels that I’m a bane on ISU . That I’m an embarrassment.”

Meldrum believes that his exploration with Sasquatch has been a positive activity for the university.

Watching the documentary back, makes him eager to get back into things.

“I sat and watched it and reliving my experiences, that were had there in Alberta it got me really excited for winter to pass and so I can get back into the field and do some more research,” said Meldrum.
