A car crash in Idaho Falls Friday night sends one to the hospital

A car crash in Idaho Falls Friday night sends one woman to the hospital.

It happened at the intersection of Sunnyside Road and Woodruff Avenue just after 7 p.m.

Officer Skidmore with the Idaho Falls Police Department said a smaller white car was going south on Woodruff and had a green traffic signal light. A white SUV was going north on Woodruff and was turning left onto Sunnyside with a flashing yellow turn arrow, when the driver turned in front of the oncoming car. Airbags deployed in both cars.

The driver of the smaller car was taken by ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls with non-life threatening injuries. The people in the SUV were checked onsite and okay.

Traffic was backed up on Sunnyside in both directions for awhile.
