Blackfoot man sentenced to 45 years for murder of child

Seventh District Judge Dane Watkins sentenced 23-year-old Jesus Adan Castillo to a 45 year unified sentence, 15 years fixed and 30 years indeterminate, for the death of a minor child under the age of 12 on Monday.

Castillo was arrested March 23, 2017 at a home in the 1600 block of Camas Street. Officials report Castillo struck an 18-month-year-old in the head and abdominal region and caused injures that resulted in the child’s death.

“I am hopeful that today’s sentence provides some measure of solace to the victim’s family in this matter, and that Jesus Adan Castillo has been held accountable for the death of a child under the age of 12,” said Bingham County Prosecuting Attorney Cleve B. Colson.

Castillo plead guilty to charges of First Degree Murder back in November.
