Stage Stop Sled Dog race starts Friday

Crews will begin construction of a race course for the Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race in Jackson Friday morning. The race itself will begin at the Town Square after pre-race festivities, which begin at 5 p.m.

This is the 23rd year Jackson has hosted the race.

In preparation, Broadway will be closed from Cache Street to Willow Street starting at 10 a.m. Center Street will close from Broadway Ave. to Deloney Ave. also beginning at 10 a.m. The streets should reopen by about 9 p.m. Friday.

The course will run the length of Broadway from Cache to Redmond Street. It will then proceed down Redmond to Cache Creek Drive, then west to the Snow King property and finish at Phil Baux Park.

The Town of Jackson will be hauling in snow to supplement existing snow on the roads, then grade and smooth it against the curbs to form a course.

“We are asking that the public be patient as we build this race course,” said Streets Manager Sam Jewison. “You will be able to get to where you need to go, but please expect a slight disruption of normal traffic patterns.”
