Longtime weatherman Ken Torrey passed away Tuesday.

Local News 8 anchor Jay Hildebrandt was notified by Ken’s wife, Peggy, on Wednesday afternoon.

She said Ken died of natural causes at the age of 69. Torrey was the weatherman at KIFI Local News 8 through the 1980’s and 90’s and into the beginning of this century.

During his time at KIFI, Ken would often visit elementary schools where he loved to talk to the students about the weather.

After his retirement, Ken and his wife were living in Mexico.

Peggy said she wanted viewers to know that Ken loved Idaho so much.
