Weather cancels Shriners’ Winter Carnival

Warm weather has canceled another Jackson Hole Shrine Club Event.

What was to be the Shriners’ “First Annual Winter Carnival,” scheduled for February 17 at Melody Ranch was sidelined by warm temperatures and low valley snowpack. The club determined that any cutter race traffic on the property would be incredibly damaging. They said the lack of snow and intermittent rain made it impossible to set a groomed track.

The winter carnival was created less than two months ago when the club was forced to cancel winter cutter races due to a lack of racer participation.

The cancellation comes on the heels of a decision earlier this week to cancel the clubs other major fundraising event, Jackson Hole Skijoring.

The club plans to hold an evening gala later in the winter to help cushion a major blow to its fundraising efforts. A date will be announced soon.

In the meantime, the club will accept any donations here.
