Wyoming lawmen rescue two endangered teenage girls

Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers rescued two teenage girls from a suspected sexual predator near Green River, Wyoming January 20.

Authorities revealed today that troopers were looking for a blue extended cab pickup with Washington plates that was moving two girls suspected of being in danger of being sexually assaulted. The vehicle was traveling from Washington state to Kansas.

During the trip, the girls got hold of the driver’s cell phone. Troopers in Cheyenne determined the phone number and pinged it to a location west of Green River.

A short time later, the manager of the Little America Hotel in Little America spotted two teenaged girls with the suspect. Troopers and Sweetwater County deputies made contact with the suspect.

They said the suspect gave them implausible travel plans and arrangements involving the two girls. A search of the vehicle discovered items that would help him sexually assault the girls.

The girls were taken into protective custody by Sweetwater County authorities. The suspect, who has not been identified was in custody as investigation continues.
