Brush fire west of Idaho Falls contained

A brush fire west of Idaho Falls on the west side of Interstate 15 at 5664 W. 33 rd S is now contained.

The two and a half to three acre fire started after a ditch burn got out of control around 4:00 p.m.

Officials said it burned weeds, grass and sage brush.

A house was threatened, but crews were able to direct the fire away from the house.

Officials report no civilians or firefighters were injured.

The Idaho Falls Fire Department reminds you to call dispatch at (208) 529-1200 to notify them of when and where you plan on burning fields. Burn permits should be obtained through the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality.
