Pocatello Police Dept. accepting applications for “Citizen Police Academy”

The Pocatello Police Department is accepting applications for its “Citizen Police Academy.”

The course will teach 30 residents about patrol procedures, crime scene investigations, police driving techniques, use of force training, and more.

“The classes are hands-on,” said Captain Roger Schei. “We want Pocatellans to have an interactive experience and get a feel for how rewarding as well as challenging a career in law enforcement can be.”

Classes will begin Tuesday, April 3 and conclude May 22. The classes will be held Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. plus, Saturday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to noon, and Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to noon Graduation will be at the end of the last class May 22.

Citizen Police Academy students are selected through an application process and will undergo a background check.

The deadline to apply is March 16 at 4 p.m. Those who are interested in the program can find more information and apply online here.

Completed applications can also be submitted to the Department at 911 North 7th Avenue or mailed to the Pocatello Police Department, P.O. Box 2877, Pocatello, ID 83206.
