Blackfoot police report a rash of vehicle and storage unit burglaries

Blackfoot Police are investigating a rash of break-ins at storage units and in parked vehicles.

Captain Scott Gay said the burglaries picked up with warm weather in late January.

At storage units, locks were cut off and a variety of items taken. It is difficult to tell when the thefts occurred since those units are not regularly checked by their owners.

The vehicle break-ins have been wide spread across town. In all cases, the vehicles were unlocked or windows were left partially down.

Gay advises people to check on storage units on a regular basis.

Gay said officers are increasing patrols in residential and business areas, as well as storage units. Motorists are advised to lock vehicles and take any valuables inside with them whenever possible.
