Fremont County Search and Rescue having a busy season

The Fremont County Search and Rescue has been very active. Thousands of people come to Fremont County, and this season has been particularly busy.

“Fremont County is the only county on this side of the state that has enough snow to be grooming, so I think Island Park has more snow so more people are coming up to island park to snow machine,” says lt. Joe Powell, Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.

Which has made it a busy season for the volunteer Fremont County Search and Rescue.

“A total of about a thousand man hours put in by search and rescue and if we had to pay that out it would be close to 30 or 40 thousand dollars,” says Lt. Powell.

Which they appreciate.

“Search and Rescue does a great job. Without them it would be tough for Fremont County.”

We want to remind you, before heading out in the snow always tell somebody where you’re going. Check the avalanche danger and always have your equipment.
