Elevator free falls 5 floors at ISU
An elevator at Idaho State University fell five floors Sunday evening.
ISU Spokesman Stuart Summers said three students were inside the elevator at Turner Hall when it descended unexpectedly, but were not injured. They were encouraged to go to the hospital as a precaution, Summers said.
Safety equipment inside the shaft worked properly to stop the elevator, Summers said.
The elevator has been turned off and elevator professionals at Thyssenkrupp have been contacted. It will undergo a thorough inspection on Monday.
Other elevators remain in operation inside Turner Hall.
Turner Hall is a residence hall for the freshman students. It can house up to 300 men and women students.
